Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

From episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists groups.
