19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from that period of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
